Asian Blepharoplasty
The upper eyelid crease in the Asian eyelid is often absent or positioned lower than in the Caucasian eyelid. The crease is also frequently shaped differently, and the fat pads surrounding the eye may extend closer to the eyelashes, contributing to a puffy appearance. Asian eyelids also sometimes have an epicanthal fold, which is a downward-angled fold that covers the inner corner of the eye.
The goal of Asian blepharoplasty is not to “westernize” the eyelid but to create a youthful look while preserving natural characteristics.
In her midtown Manhattan office, Dr. Yogita Kashyap has performed double eyelid surgery/Asian blepharoplasty on many patients from all over NYC, including Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, and Upstate New York.
Candidates for Asian Blepharoplasty
Your personal consultation with Dr. Kashyap includes a thorough eye examination, which will take about 45 minutes. This allows her to perform a full evaluation and ensure you are a good candidate for Asian blepharoplasty. Most healthy people are excellent candidates for this procedure.
If you have a dry eye condition, Dr. Kashyap may recommend treatment before your surgery, as double eyelid treatment can worsen dry eye symptoms.
